Knoxville Blues Society Review
Feb 1, 2007

The Miller Brothers Band has really put out some fine working class blues in their latest release Tales From Foundry Town. Starting out in Detroit, and making it to Europe, drifting apart, and hooking up in Los Angeles, here are some blues playing veterans.

The band consists of Dave Miller and Mark Tomorsky with harp and guitar, Tommy Miller on bass, Frank Charboneaux on drums and Bob Ramsey on organ. Oh yeah, Al Jacquez on some really good vocals. These guys can cook.

We have 12 cuts on the CD. Here are my favorites. “Stand to Lose” is really good. Great guitar, real blues, just wonderful. Running a real close second is “Ghost On a Roll.” The intro gets you right away with the harp and guitar. This is a real life blues. Actually it depends on the mood, sometimes the two songs switch places. Anyway, you get the idea. I also like “Playin” which is a tribute to just that. Playing out at gigs. If you have never done this you don’t really understand. But if you have, it just hits home, and it’s great. If you’re a listener, well, we can’t do it without you.

So enjoy. Actually the whole CD is pretty danged good. I like the way they interact, don’t step on each other, and you can hear every instrument. Jacquez has a really fine, smooth blues voice, and it just works. I have listened to the CD about 6 times, and just like it more and more. I hope you will too.
